The UK’s Three Peaks Challenge is a popular and rigorous trek that involves climbing the three highest peaks in England, Scotland, and Wales. These peaks: Snowdon in Wales, Scafell Pike in England, and Ben Nevis in Scotland, offer picturesque views, rich history and a test of physical endurance, attracting thousands of adventurers each year.
The Three Peaks Challenge not only tests physical endurance but also offers a rich encounter with the natural beauty and historical significance of these regions. It’s an adventure that leaves participants with an unforgettable sense of accomplishment.
The rugged terrain and unpredictable weather make it a physically demanding and mentally challenging journey. However, the reward of conquering all three peaks in just three days is an unforgettable experience that will leave you with a sense of accomplishment.
If you are looking to test both your mental and physical resilience, sign up to the 3 Peaks Challenge for Cynthia Spencer Hospice in 2026. Find out more details about what our challenge involves and signup by clicking the button below.
Ben Nevis, located in the Grampian Mountains in the Scottish Highlands, stands as the tallest among the three at 1,345 meters. Its name means ‘Venomous mountain’ in Gaelic. Despite its challenging weather conditions and rugged terrain, Ben Nevis attracts an estimated 100,000 ascents a year. It will form the first leg of our 3 peaks challenge in 2026 and is a challenging start.
Scafell Pike, standing at 978 meters, is the highest peak in England. It is located in the Lake District National Park in Cumbria. Its summit consists of a rugged landscape of rocks and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding lakes and hills. Don’t be fooled by the views; however, being our second leg on our 3 peaks challenge, it will prove both a physical and mental challenge throughout. Getting to the top though will prove incredibly rewarding.
Snowdon, the highest peak in Wales, stands at 1,085 meters. Snowdon boasts of diverse paths to the summit, making it suitable for a range of skill levels. The Snowdon Mountain Railway, which reaches the summit, has been operational since 1896, offering visitors an alternative to the hike. However, with this being the final leg of your 3 peaks challenge, it’s not a ride you will be able to take.
