Amanda commenced her career within ITU and general medicine. As a ward sister at Leicester Royal Infirmary (LRI) she developed an interest in palliative care and went on to become a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) at the LRI and Kettering General Hospital. After working in New Zealand for a time, Amanda now leads the Practice Development Team and maintains her clinical skills by working as a Palliative Care Nurse Specialist. To maintain her wellbeing, Amanda enjoys socialising, hiking and yoga.

Lauren started her nursing career on an acute Haematology and Oncology ward at Peterborough hospital. It was from here she knew that she wanted to work within palliative care. Lauren then secured her dream role as a Palliative Care Specialist Nurse, firstly working at Peterborough hospital and the moving to the community at Cransley hospice in Kettering. She then went on to become nurse manager at a local day hospice. Lauren joined the End of Life Practice development team at Cynthia Spencer Hospice in June 2024 and is really enjoying making a difference from the other side and educating staff and the public. Lauren also banks as a Specialist Palliative Care Nurse to maintain her clinical skills. Lauren enjoys spending time with her family and friends, going to concerts, eating out and exercising.
Denise has worked within the NHS for over 25 years and within the End-of-Life Care Practice Development Team for over 9 years. As the Team Administrator, Denise is keen to support learners to access the Team’s end of life care education, and in turn supporting learners to care for people coming towards the end of their life.
Sarah started her nursing carer in Acute Medicine, specialising in cardiology. Sarah then moved to the community working within Hospice @ Home, caring for people in the last weeks of life, where she then progressed to become one of the Sister’s. After several years, Sarah then progressed to Matron of Cynthia Spencer Hospice and she now works as Service Manager for Adult Community Health Services. Sarah supports the Practice Development regularly to share her knowledge and skills, as an experienced SAGE & THYME Facilitator. Sarah’s hobbies include walking her dog and practising yoga.
Eve qualified as a Nurse in 2002, she developed a keen interest in Social Work whist working at KGH and worked in the Social Work Department of the Hospital as a Care Manager for over 10 years. Qualifying as a Social Worker in 2013, she then moved into Community Mental Health. Eve has always had a keen interest in Palliative care and started the role as Patient and Family Liaison Worker at Cransley Hospice in 2021.
Eve enjoys spending time at the seaside in her Static caravan with family and watching her son play football every weekend with his team.
Debbie has been in nursing for over 40 years in a variety of roles. She was the first community based MS Specialist Nurse where she worked for 12 years before branching into palliative care as a community CNS. She was 1 of 40 nurses worldwide selected by St Christophers Hospice, as a palliative pioneer in 2020 for her work into medicinal cannabis. Debbie enjoys sharing her knowledge and skills with others within the Practice Development Team training offered. Debbie enjoys walking her dogs, yoga, socialising and riding pillion on a scooter!
Claire has worked at Cynthia Spencer Hospice for over 27 years, coming from a career in clerical settings and mental health care. Her role as Palliative Care Patient & Family Liaison Worker involves working with, and, supporting patients and their families admitted into the inpatient unit. Claire developed a child bereavement resource project that palliative care healthcare professionals use across the county, providing advice and guidance to families in which children are being bereaved of a loved one. Claire has a qualification in Person Centred Counselling and is one of a team teaching ENGAGE – an enhanced communications certification. Outside of work Claire enjoys walking, cooking, reading and family time.
annah began her nursing career at Northampton General Hospital, before developing a strong passion for palliative care while working on the oncology ward and chemotherapy suite. She went on to work as a Clinical Nurse Specialist within the specialist palliative care team, where she felt privileged to support patients and families at challenging times. Following this, Hannah worked as a Macmillan head and neck clinical nurse specialist, further developing her expertise in complex care and patient support. She has since returned to palliative care and now works as a community clinical nurse specialist in the Kettering area, with a particular interest teaching, education, and communication skills as a Sage & Thyme facilitator. She has also been recognised for her compassionate approach to patient care; receiving a Cavell award.Outside of work, Hannah values time with her family, staying active and maintaining a heathy work-life balance. She has taken on several personal challenges including running the London marathon and is currently training for an ultra-marathon. Many of these challenges are undertaken to support charitable causes to make a positive difference beyond her clinical role
Jamie began his career at Cynthia Spencer Hospice as a newly qualified staff nurse in 2014. Four years later he progressed to the role of Charge Nurse; and in 2023 transferred to Cransley Hospice in Kettering as Ward Matron where he continues in post. Jamie became a SAGE & THYME facilitator in 2023; a course he enjoys teaching. In his spare time to maintain his wellbeing, Jamie enjoys spending time at the cinema, theatre and going on holiday.
