Second golf day raises over £9,000 for the hospice

The second annual Cynthia Spencer Hospice golf day in September was another huge success and smashed last year’s fundraising achievement, raising a total of £9,691 and engaging many businesses from around Northamptonshire.

Scott Norville, account director from Silverstone Fleet Management, who both entered a team in the event and sponsored some of the prizes, said: “The golf day is a great way for local businesses to support the charity, as well as this the day also has a strong element of networking too. There is nothing better than playing golf and chatting. There is also an opportunity to meet with new businesses you have not met before. The main reason we choose to get involved is to support the charity, being a Northampton privately owned business the day provides a great way to put something back in to the town and support Cynthia Spencer Hospice”.

Corporate partnerships fundraiser at the hospice, Nina Gandy said: “We’re thrilled that our second golf day was such a huge success. It was fantastic to engage with so many businesses, including several that we haven’t worked with before, and spread the word about the fantastic care that they are helping to provide through their support. There are so many ways to get involved from enjoying the networking and competition of taking part on the course, sponsoring any of our prizes, hole sponsorship or providing raffle prizes and we’re pleased to be able offer many brand exposure opportunities.

“Many people asked on the day if we’re planning to hold another golf day next year and I’m pleased to announce that indeed we are! Our 2020 golf day will again be held at Northampton Golf Club on Thursday 8th October and I’d encourage any businesses who would like to express an interest in entering a team to call me on 01604 973348 or drop me an email on nina@cynthiaspencer.co.uk”.

Another keen golfer and supporter of the hospice, Jon Thorpe, managing director of ACS Office Solutions who also played in the golf day said: “Special day by a special charity! Thanks to the Cynthia Spencer Hospice Charity and team and to the winners, sponsors and contributors along with Northampton Golf Club and Nick Soto...great fun, great day!”
