Sarah Beard and her partner James only took up running in January 2020 but by the end of October will have run 3 half marathons! Starting with the London Landmarks Half Marathon in August this year they began fundraising in memory of Sarah’s Dad, Tim who received care from the hospice in 2004 as he battled throat cancer.

Sarah said: "We took up running in January 2020 and have been running 3-4 times a week since. We love doing our long training runs together on a Sunday, exploring parts of Northampton that we never knew existed! Running combined with our other training 3 times a week to support our overall fitness means that we are definitely putting the hours in to earn our sponsorship!
“Taking part in LLHM was an incredible experience, 13,000 people took part in the only closed road half marathon to go through the City of London and Westminster and one of the first events since COVID hit. There were countless supporters lining the streets; I felt incredibly proud that we were able to run it for Dad, I knew how proud he would have been of us, it was an emotional day and a privilege to be able to raise money for Cynthia Spencer.
Since completing the London Landmarks event the couple have since signed up for Northampton Half Marathon, for which Sarah has been selected as a Race Ambassador, and the Rock n Roll Liverpool Half Marathon on 24th October. Can you help them continue to raise as much as possible in Tim’s memory by visiting their JustGiving page and making a donation? https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/s12trb
Sarah concluded: "3 half marathons in 3 months - not bad for a couple that couldn't run to the end of the street 20 months ago and so our fundraising will now cover all 3 events in a bid to raise as much as possible for Cynthia Spencer, running all 3 in Dad's memory. I will be forever grateful for the care that was given to Dad during his months at the hospice and would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff and volunteers there and everyone that has sponsored James and I so far, your support really has been so gratefully appreciated."
