#Pledge4Cynthia and make a difference...when you can

We understand the challenging nature of the circumstances we all find ourselves in at the moment. And we know that our amazing supporters feel as strongly about helping the hospice care for the people of Northamptonshire as much now as they ever have.

With that in mind, we're asking our different communities of supporters to consider what pledge they can make to support us when they are better able to. We've made some suggestions to get you started but your pledges don't have to be limited to what we suggest. We'd love to hear from you and find out what kind of thing you and your community would like to do. Use your imagination and indulge your passions and interests.

It's over to you to #pledge4cynthia!

Individual pledges

We know that our local community holds a very special place in their hearts for the hospice but we understand that supporting us to raise money is not possible for a lot of our supporters right now.

With that in mind, we're asking you if you would make a pledge of support for some time in the future, when things get back to normal and you feel the time is right for you to help us. We'll still be here!

Here's just a few suggestions of small, and some not so small, things you could do to show the hospice your love.

  • Join Your Hospice Lottery for just £1 per week and you could win one of 176 weekly prizes
  • If you're a member of the community group you could promote us and our events as part of your communications
  • Would you consider making a regular gift to the hospice of just £5 per month?
  • Follow us on facebook, Instagram and twitter and like and share our posts
  • Sign up to take part in a 2021 challenge
  • Host a virtual sponsored event such as a sponsored waxing, head shave, silence, or maybe a bath of baked beans!
  • Host your own virtual fundraiser from home like a coffee morning, Big Get Together, Big Quiz or bingo night
  • Introduce us to your child’s school so we can speak to them about doing an assembly
  • Invite us to talk at your local community group
  • Raffle off a hamper amongst your friends and family

The sky's the limit on what you could do to raise money. You could use your passions and your interests to create a completely new fundraiser!

Volunteering pledges

Our volunteers are an absolutely crucial part of our charity and we simply couldn't support the hospice the way we do without them. They're part of our family!

Have you always thought about volunteering but never got round to signing up to do it? Why not make a pledge that, when things are simpler and you have the time and ability, you'll do your bit to support your local hospice by volunteering?

  • Complete our volunteer signup form letting us know what area of volunteering you'd like to be involved in once you're able to help
  • Encourage a friend or family member to consider volunteering too
  • Once our Donation Station is open again, pop along to one of our volunteering open days and find out what help we desperately need in sorting stock for sale
  • You could consider becoming one of our Volunteer Ambassadors, helping us spread the word about the essential role the hospice performs in your community and really feel you're part of our team

Inspired to get involved once you're able to? Let us know what you're pledging to do!

School, college and uni pledges

It's an unusual and uncertain time for school children and students at the moment and we understand that education and exams are the primary concerns for teachers and learners alike. But as things become clearer and lessons restart, could you consider these awesome ways to support your local hospice?

  • Take part in our Trip to Tokyo which we'll be running again next year to coincide with the rescheduled Olympics
  • Sign up to our Schools Enterprise Challenge to take part once you're able to
  • Request our Fundraising Pack to help your school, college or university to fundraise for Cynthia Spencer Hospice
  • Invite us to talk in your school, college or university about what we do and how you can help
  • Spread the word about Cynthia Spencer hospice to friends, family and neighbours through your social media

So there are plenty of ways your future support can help the hospice plus give you and your students great experience, skills and confidence at the same time!

Let us know what your school, college or uni pledges are!

Business pledges

Times are tough for businesses and we're conscious that your support of local charities is not top of your list at the moment. With that in mind we'd like to ask you to consider what you might be able to do when times are easier.

  • Pledge a certain amount of volunteer hours to be completed by the end of 2021 (this could be the company as a whole, or an individual basis)
  • Nominate us as your Charity of the Year
  • Ask us about Payroll Giving
  • Sign up to take part in Franklins £50 Challenge (Autumn 2020)
  • Invite us as a guest to a networking event where we could be introduced to new contacts
  • Make some bookings at our meeting room in Northampton
  • Promote us and our events as part of your internal communications within your organisation
  • Sign up a team of your staff to take part in a 2021 challenge
  • Do 21 things to support the Hospice in 2021 – like one of our posts, connect with a member of our team on Linkedin, take part in an event, the options are endless!
  • Invite us to come and present to your staff about the Hospice
  • Raffle off a hamper at your workplace
  • Take part in a Christmas decorate your desk competition

Supporting your local charity is a great way to improve morale amongst your workforce and once things are back to normal we're all going to need that! Let us know what you pledge to do in your business, either as an owner or an employee!

Retail pledges

Every area of retail has been hit hard by the Coronavirus crisis with high streets deserted and shopping centres closed. As our shops have also had to close as well as our Spring and Summer events having been cancelled we're hugely reliant on our loyal customers, and new ones, coming back to shop with us once again when they are able.

  • Could you pledge to come to each of our Saturday open days at our Donation Station and have a browse when it's open again? It's a treasure trove of fantastic finds so you'll probably end up spending too!
  • Sign up for Gift Aid to help increase the value of your donations  by 25%
  • Visit our eBay shop and start your Christmas shopping early!
  • Collate together the items you want to donate and drop them in to the Donation Station when we reopen
  • Shop on Amazon Smile so we receive 0.5% of your net purchase price as a donation without it costing you a penny more
  • Use Give as You Live to support us when you shop from over 4,000 online retailers and offers

We hope that's given you plenty of ideas for how you can support us through your shopping, once the time is right. Or if you plan to support us another way, let us know!
