The arrival of the Aviva Women's Tour into North Northamptonshire failed to deter the Hollowell Steam Supporters Group from holding another Tractor and Vintage Vehicle Road Run, and raising over £350 for the Hospice.
Using military precision to avoid road closures brought by the Women's Tour on Sunday 19th June, 13 vintage tractors , a Morris 1000 Police Panda car and a Landrover all gathered at the Stag's Head in Maidwell for breakfast before setting off and meandering through Haselbech, Naseby, Welford before stopping at Bunkers Hill Farm Cold Ashby where Maureen and Mick Lill kindly provided some well-needed refreshments. The group then returned through Guilsborough, Cottesbrooke and Haselbech arriving at Maidwell having covered a total of 23-miles.
Our thanks go out to organisers Dave Blencowe and Ken Nixon, the staff at the Stag's Head who got up extra early to provide breakfast and to Grace Abbott who organised a raffle. Also to everyone who brought a classic vehicle and those who just turned out for breakfast for supporting the event.
The Hollowell Steam Supporters Group have now raised almost £1,700 for the Hospice in the last three years.
