Darren and Claire Brockwell have successfully completed the gruelling Isle of Wight Challenge, running around the entire 106km coastline in 24 hours. Our brave adventurers tackled sleet, rain and temperatures of just above freezing running through the night over a course that took in pebbled beaches, boggy woods, ascents of over 500m, muddy fields and single track coastal paths. If that isn't a big enough achievement, they also completely smashed their original fundraising target of £700, instead bringing in an amazing £2,000 in sponsorship.
The keen fun runners described this as their toughest challenge yet and told us: "We have had close members of our family cared for at Cynthia Spencer Hospice and we wanted to show our appreciation in a small way. We had fantastic support from our families out on the course and the aches and blisters will only be temporary, the memory and the £2000 far outweigh all of them!"
