With its mix of wild volcanic landscape dotted with steaming lava fields, icecaps, glaciers, waterfalls, bubbling hot springs and geysers, the stunning Icelandic landscape is one you will never forget. With some of the most spectacular wilderness areas in Europe its lucky visitors are compelled to return again and again.

Dates: 12th – 16th July 2017

Day 1: London – Keflavik – Landmannalauger

Depart London for Kaflavik airport whereby upon arrival you will be transferred to the Southern Highlands. Your camp for the night is at Landmannalauga in the heart of Southern Iceland’s thermal area on the mid Atlantic rift.

Day 2: Landmannalugar – Alftavatn

From camp you will climb through the cross lava fields, pass steaming vents and snow fields. Passing Storihver – a big hot spring amongst afield of vents. Through fields of glistening black oppidum rock. Then descending down to Alfavan a huge volcanic lake where you will camp

Day 3: Alftavatn – Emstrur

After the challenge of day 2, this is a slightly shorter day where you will leave the rhyolite and enter a glacial area with fast running glacial streams from the Myrdalsjokull Icecap. Climb down to the oasis of Hvanngil and then trek across ‘Sahara Like’ passing the hills to Ematur Hut where you will spend your last night under canvas

Day 4: Emstrur – Thorsmork – Reykjavik

Your final day trekking starts with river crossings and views of the Markarfljot gorge and the bridged Ljorsa fissure. The trek ends with a steep drop into the main valley of Thorsmork, which is surrounded by giant glaciers and raging rivers. This is regarded as one of Iceland’s most well-known beauty spots and marks the end of your trek. From here you with be transferred to Reykjavik, where you will have a celebration meal and overnight stay.

Day 5: Reykjavik – London

You will have some free time to explore Reykajavik the world’s most northerly capital. Visit the Blue Lagoon, one of Iceland’s pools of mineral rich, geothermal seawater, set amongst fields of lava with a spectacular back drop of green rolling hills.

Then it off to the airport and home to London.
